Weekend with the Kids

Kate left for a women's retreat–so that means its me and the kids all weekend.

It also means after bedtime, its coding time. Tonight, I'm playing with the Code Igniter PHP framework. As much as I love RoR, PHP apps are still easier to distribute and setup for non-programmers. I have a couple secret projects in the works and I think Code Igniter might be ideal for them.

I also picked up an Apple wireless keyboard and Griffin Elevator for my MacBook Pro. I'm digging this setup.

A Bit of Blogging Etiquette

Tim O'Reilly recently called for a Blogger's Code of Conduct . While I don't necessarily agree with the entire concept, I'd like recommend a bit of blogging etiquette specific to photographers.

If you mention another photographer in your blog, their name should be a link to their site or blog.

Doing this ensures you're helping the other photographer's search engine rankings, especially if you format the link to include the region they serve.

Birthday Party

Today was S's Wizard of Oz birthday party. It was quite fun and the frosting was quite delicious. Here's a few shots.

Back Home from Chicago

I'm back home from Chicago. PartnerCon was a blast–we met a ton of great photographers and received some great feedback at our booth.

The little time we spent downtown was fun, but the highlight of the trip (no offense, Pictage) was going to a Cubs game at Wrigley field with some of our friends and wonderful customers.

PartnerCon Day II

Today is pretty slow in our room at PartnerCon. All of us sponsors are just hanging out while the photographers go to sessions. I had a chance to meet some really cool people yesterday and today.

I'm gonna use the quiet time to get some work done–maybe go to a session.

PartnerCon

PartnerCon is half over and its been really nice so far. This is a really small intimate show, so it's nice to have time to really talk to and get to know people. I do have some suggestions for Pictage to improve the show for sponsors (not that they asked), but I'll talk about that later.

I'm very excited about tomorrow night because Kenneth and I are going to the Cubs game with some really cool photographers. I've always wanted to go to Wrigley Field, so I bought 6 tickets on eBay as soon as I found out I was coming to Chi-town.

I'm eating a Philly Cheesesteak right now (yes, I know I'm in Chicago). It's quite possible the best thing I've ever tasted. I heard a rumor that there's some office diet in effect back at BIG Folio HQ, so I'm going to gorge myself while I'm gone.

Stuck in Phoenix

KM and I are stuck in the Phoenix airport right now. Our connecting flight was supposed to leave at 8:50. Currently, its bumped back to noon and we should get to Chi-town by 5:30.

PartnerCon, here we come ... maybe.

Look what the post man brought me

If you want to see more, just meet me in Chicago.

Date Night

Tonight was our first date night in a few weeks. I took Kate to the local 9-hole course for her first round of golf. She did great. She shot a par on the last hole; as you can see by the jump, she was pretty excited.
