Blogging for SEO
I have quite a few blogs in my Google Reader, but I've been getting a bit pickier about who I let in my subscriptions list.
One of my favorite recent subscriptions is Copyblogger by Brian Clark. This year we've really been focusing on search engine optimization for photographers, so I'm always on the lookout for quality blogs on the subject. Copyblogger is all about applying good copywriting skills to your online marketing endeavors. I've concluded over the last year that photographers are generally terrible at copywriting on their websites and blogs, so this blog is a breath of fresh air. Any photographer who is serious about improving their writing/blogging skills should read this blog.
Brian's recent entry, Blueprint for a Brilliant Blog Launch is especially good and applicable to photographers.
I've always argued that photographers should write what Brian calls "cornerstone content" on their blog. Of course, I don't think anyone has ever taken my advice.
If you're a photographer and you want to improve your search engine positioning, you should be blogging. You should also be blogging more than just pictures. If you are blogging (or preparing to start), definitely read this post.
